While you are gearing up for our fantastic Go Dog Go! furry 5K you can also support PAWS and our many programs helping dogs in our community. The WoofTrax company has launched the free “Walk For A Dog” app which allows you to track your walking time, duration and distance to monitor your progress, and at the same time earn donations for PAWS!

Summer is well under way, and Wagfest is going to be here before you know it, and this year we have so many new and exciting things to share with you – Mark your calendar right now for Sunday September 7th because you won’t want to miss a single minute of the fun

Walkers and runners can both enjoy the wonderful September weather at Battlepoint Park as you walk, run or stroll for 5K to kick off the Wagfest festivities. This is a great way to get in shape and spend time with your dog – many dogs (like many of us) can benefit from losing a few pounds and toning up their muscles. Dogs who are at appropriate weight live longer and have fewer health problems – do something good for your dog and get moving today!

Homemade cat treats are fun, easy and inexpensive to make! In addition to giving your feline friend healthy cat treats that you can purchase from pet stores, you can also make healthy treats at home.

Making your cat treat has some advantages, such as: you’ll know exactly what is in them; it will cost a lot less than the treats sold in stores; and, you can make large batches and freeze what you won’t use right away.

Homemade Tuna Crackers

* 6 ounces of undrained tuna

* 1 cup cornmeal

* 1 cup flour

* 1/3 cup water

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Measure all of the ingredients into a bowl and mix thoroughly with your hands. Roll out to 1/4 inch thickness and cut into treat sized pieces. Place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake for about 20 minutes or until golden.
