Here in the northwest we are blessed with unparalleled outdoor beauty, amazing wildlife and hero pets who could only be found in a place like this.

 

The Center for Conservation Biology (CCB) at the University of Washington proudly sponsors Tucker, Conservation Canine scat detection dog as one of PAWS Hero pets!

As we gather together this Saturday at the Spotlight on Western Washington Hero Pets, we will honor all of the pet heroes in our lives, the celebrated and the unsung heroes that share their lives with us every day.

This year’s Hero Pet Awards Gala is sure to be filled with amazement and celebration as we honor the pets who have made our lives fuller in the last year.

 

 

Since puppyhood, Liame has inspired the creation of a program that has helped train more than 525 dogs in the Puget Sound area! He’s not just a hero to Mary McNeight. With Service Dog Academy’s youtube videos offering free training advice for service dogs and diabetic alert dogs, Liame has helped an audience of literally thousands of disabled persons across the globe.

Service to mankind is the hallmark of our Hero Pet Winners, in both big and small ways. Every year we are awed by the devotion shown by all of our Hero Pet nominees.


Kitty was born on April Fool’s Day, 1999 – and is still going strong – Kitty has averaged 20 hours or more per week visiting and working with people in need. Kitty has surpassed 18,700 hours in her nearly 13 years of Therapy work.

What is PAWS

PAWS of Bainbridge Island and North Kitsap is a volunteer-based nonprofit animal welfare organization that promotes responsible pet ownership and the reduction of pet overpopulation. PAWS features low-cost spay/neuter and veterinary financial assistance, a lost and found pet registry, pet adoption, Senior Veterinary Assistance, a pet food bank, and Feral Cat Assistance.
