PAWS WagFest 2011 brought a record crowd out to Battle Point Park for its annual "celebration of all things canine". The event raised close to $7,000 for PAWS community programs, but also raised awareness about dogs and their wonders. More than 25 vendors sold everything from dog massages to handmade equipment and specialty dog foods. Public demonstrations and presentations explored the sport of dog sledding, the "healing art" of Reiki as it relates to dogs, and the specialized talents of K9 "Ajax" of the Kitsap County Sheriff's department. For many participants, however, the highlight of the day was just spending quality time with their four-legged friend in the 1.5-mile "promenade around the park."
